Project Title: Machine-Knit Beanie – Bamboo Yarn
Project Description:
This beanie represents both technical growth and material exploration. Crafted on a flat knitting machine from 100% bamboo yarn, it takes full advantage of the fiber’s softness, breathability, and natural coolness against the skin. The bamboo drapes lightly, giving the beanie a fluid comfort that makes it an unexpected piece for summer wear, perfect for layering or standing alone.
The design features a classic stripe pattern in red and light pink, a playful pairing that feels fresh yet timeless. While simple in form, the making process was rich in discovery: shaping through decreases, forming a folded hem, learning the importance of needle positions, and perhaps most importantly, learning how to identify and correct mistakes as part of the craft.
Choosing bamboo was also a deliberate gesture toward sustainability. The fiber grows quickly without heavy irrigation or pesticides and naturally regenerates, making it a renewable, biodegradable choice. Its qualities echo my broader design philosophy—garments that are responsible, versatile, and built to last.
The Machine-Knit Beanie is ultimately a piece where technical precision meets playful design, where sustainability merges with wearability, and where learning is woven into every stitch.
