ABOUT ME...

Hi! I’m Audrey Stubbs, a third-year student at Parsons School of Design, The New School in NYC. I was born and raised in England, just an hour outside of London, where the English countryside was quite literally on my doorstep. Growing up surrounded by fields, animals, and heritage fashion, I developed a deep appreciation for nature—something that continues to guide my work as a designer today.
Sustainability is at the heart of my practice. I focus on working with natural fibers such as wool, bamboo, cotton, alpaca, mohair, and silk, while also incorporating sourced textiles from second-hand pickups and inherited materials. By reusing and repurposing fabrics, I aim to reduce waste and encourage a more responsible approach to fashion. As a new designer, I believe it’s vital to address sustainability—not as a trend, but as a necessity for the future of the industry.
My design identity is shaped by British heritage fashion, with a particular emphasis on traditional tailoring and knitwear. Knitwear has been a lifelong passion for me: my grandmother taught me to knit when I was very young, and what began as a way for us to bond has grown into a defining aspect of my practice. Every stitch reminds me of that connection, and it fuels my love for knitwear as both craft and expression.
Alongside this, I’m fascinated by Victorian tailoring from the mid-1800s to early 1900s—especially its use of structure, layering, and exaggeration to emphasize parts of the body such as the shoulders, waist, neck, and hips. My work often explores ways of blending this historical influence with contemporary silhouettes, bringing together tradition, sustainability, and imagination in every piece I create.
